The amps (guitar tube amps) that I've built have been single ended and 20 microF (uF) were generally the highest value I've used.
I've just received an unmolested Mag 9304 and I'm going to remove the current Cap Can from the power circuit and re-cap. This amp has a 5u4 rectifier and the first stage of filter is a 40 uF cap to the choke then 30 mF cap after the choke across a 10K resister to a 10uF cap. The data sheet for the 5u4 has 40uF listed.
I've checked my go to source (Antique electric) and it seems to me that there isn't a 40 but a 47 uF and this value seems a tad high.
Question? Has anyone used the 47 uF without issues or should I use a 30uF and a 10uF in parallel to make 40uf for the first stage of filtering at the choke?
I should note that I'm restoring the magnavox for connecting to a music source like a record player and CD player, bluetooth, etc.....I only mentioned the guitar amp because I'm not new to tube but new to HiFI.
