Pre amp to subwoofer

I have a power amp pre amp combo. I am looking to add a subwoofer to my system with no sub out from the pre.
I do have 2 sets of line out however. What is the best way to connect the sub. Also if the sub has only lfe inputs and no high frequency inputs is that a problem?
The sub i have been looking at so far is an
Klipsch R-12SWi

Use Y connectors from the preamp out to drive the sub and power amp. If the sub has only one line level input do not combine the left and right output from your preamp. Doing so will make all the signals mono.

My pre amp has 2 sets of line outs so power amp will be supplied also. But the sub has only lfe in (left & right) i am not sure if it has an internal cross over?
No high lvl input. Should i consider another sub?

Your subwoofer does have a crossover, that is what the "low pass" knob is. Low pass, as in, the low frequencies are allowed to pass, the high frequencies are blocked, at the frequency specified via the knob.

You have to be very clear about what you are talking about when you say that your preamp has two sets of "line outs". Usually, the pre-amp outputs are labeled as "pre-out". Those are controlled via the volume knob. A regular "line out" is usually NOT controlled by the volume control, and is meant to send a full-volume signal to the input of a tape deck or similar for recording purposes. You would only want to use a pre-out, so that your subwoofer is controlled via the pre-amp volume control just the same as your speakers. But different brands sometimes use slightly different naming conventions.

Assuming that you only have one set of pre-outs, then use one Y-splitter on the left channel and one Y-splitter on the right channel, run one pair to the speaker amp, one pair to the subwoofer. Your subwoofer has stereo inputs (right and left) so just plug both channels into the subwoofer. If you do have 2 sets of pre-outs, you can omit the Y-splitters, but again, make sure they are actually pre-outs and not regular line outs.

Try the phase switch both ways and use whichever sounds better. The purpose of the phase switch is to make sure the bass from your subwoofer compliments the bass from your mains, rather than cancelling it out.

Just connect one preamp RCA out to the amp and the other preamp to the left/right on the sub (you could also use Y-cables if you didn't have 2 output). The sub does have a crossover and gain (virtually all active subs do). Your mains will continue to run full-range from your power amp, your sub will also receive a full-range stereo signal from your preamp, but the low-pass crossover in the sub (adjustable with the knob on the right in your picture) will filter out everything above sub frequencies.

You want to adjust that crossover so the sub starts taking over at the frequencies where the mains start rolling off in low-bass production. If the sub sounds boomy, chances are good you have the crossover too high so that the sub and mains are doubling the midbass content. Sub gain too high tends to be create too much bass, sub crossover too high tends to create boominess. Set the crossover to where it isn't boomy, then adjust gain to blend with mains.

Some subs only have a single LFE (mono) input -- if that was the case, you'd have a hard time connecting it to your stereo preamp (the best you could do is feed it with either the left or right preamp out). Your Klipsch has left and right, so it accepts stereo content from your preamp and then internally "sums" the left/right into a mono signal containing all bass from left and right for the sub to reproduce.
 
When I finally figured out how to set up the crossover in my Velodyne sub, the improvement in sound was incredible. I bet you will pleased when you get it set up.

As others have said one pair of preamp outputs to your amp and the other goes to the sub's line-ins. That way your preamp's volume control will control the sub's volume as well.
