When we started to work on HDTV, I introduced myself to the guys from our partners (Bell Labs) as the devil's advocate. My coworkers first made that "DA" and soon, because of Chicago's teams "da Bulls" and "da Bears' made it "da DA" and shortened to "daDA," spelled as shown but pronounced the way a toddler calls his father "DADA."
So there is a much longer post than you expected!
