Pro linear speakers

Probably nothing to write home about. Rectilinear is the only 'linear' brand I know of that's on the gooder side.

However, I've been surprised before. And even if they're garden variety they might be OK for a garage/basement system. All depends on what you're looking for.

Post some pics and more info if you can.

There was a family (connected by marriage) run chain of audio/record stores in Vancouver called Kelly's. Pro Linear speakers were sold by them in the 1970's. That family (or families) at one time was involved with furniture manufacturing and therefore had a connection for speaker boxes. Those boxes were decent quality, relatively heavy and wood veneered.

Models were the word. "Stage" followed by a number.

Components inside were CTS. That might have changed at sometime because I understood they ran out of CTS parts.

The Pro Linear name surfaced again in the 1990's. On speakers once more (but black now) and on ultra cheap plastic turntables. Those I remember from Future Shop, another Canadian chain and absorbed by Best Buy.

Also at that time was cheap, Pro Linear branded audio furniture. I bought a $50 audio stand on clearance for $20 around 1995. It's been touched up a few times with spray paint but I'm still using it.

Pro Linear Electronics.

Both from Vancouver, same company?

What say the OP's id tags?

I have a few pair of Vintage Pro Linears ....All of them have been excellent! I have a couple of the Stage series....Reminds me similar to the Dynaco A25's ..surrounds seem softer! The other ones have treated accordian suspensions. They seem to pound the Rock Tunes out well!! I would never pass up buying a pai...r when they show up locally!!

I still have my Pro Linear speakers. Bought them at Crazy Kelly’s in 1973 in Toronto and they still sound great. Running them with my Sansui 6 receiver which I bought at the same time. There were no courier companies back then, so they shipped the whole set with a Thorens turntable by train from Toronto to Burlington Ontario. Didn’t even tell my parents I was doing this. After all, I was 15. lol. They were ok with it.

Still rocking my Pro Linear speakers too, in 2026.
