Hello -
I've been lurking for quite some time, and I've enjoyed reading through all of the posts specifically in the Pioneer forum. I've been waiting for my chance to get my hands on one of these beauties and I finally did. SX 950 in impeccable condition, all original parts and cosmetically checks all the boxes.
I finally got around to getting everything connected last night and everything works perfectly...except the two phono inputs. My turntable (Technics SL1200 MK5) has had no issues with any previous receivers (most recently a Technics SU-7300) I tried both phono inputs with no luck. When I use Phono 2, and crank the volume completely, I can faintly hear the signal from the turntable that gets slightly louder depending on the position of the selector button. I don't have any luck with Phono 1. Hooked to an external preamp and the aux input, I can hear the music just fine. While that solves the no music problem, I would love to use the phono stage. I have my trusty DeoxIT D5 from previous vintage pickups, but when I pull the case off I can see that in order to get to the business end of the selector switches I'll be pulling away a few layers. If I get that far, should I just plan on changing out some of the components I'll see along the way? I found Mattsd's post in the recapping the SX-950 thread for the listing of components, and in my searches I've also found packs of components for sale on eBay. Has anyone had luck with those packages?
Thanks for your help!
