Have had this unit laying dormant for awhile and decided to recap.

BTW just notice the front of the receiver is different than mine. My 3253 has less bold in the font used and the tuner glass is held on by allen screws. Since the glass is mounted on top of the faceplate, the model script at the top is near the edge. I wonder when the change was.

Have seen it both ways... easy unit to recap and sounds tons better now.

Did you have any concerns about recapping the tuner section causing alignment problems?

I have never had a problem with tuner recap on any unit where 1) the tuner was working prior to recap 2) kept all the original transistors on turner board.

Alignment was needed on a SX 750 but it was not working prior to recap and a Sansui 800 after I replaced some transistors on the tuner.

I own one of these and it plays very well. It is used for music in our exercise room. I do need to take it apart and put some high quality stuff I bought on the volume control resistive surfaces. I like the blue illumination on the top dial. Mine is just plain white. Someday I may change the color. I bought mine used at a garage sale in 2000. It has been used everyday since then without failure. I hope I have not cursed the poor thing.
