PUTTING NEW VENEER ON MY PIONEER HPM60s...

While were at it, I just noticed something.
The original Veneer/Finish on my HPM60's is a little beat up.
How hard would it be to try and put on a Cherry Finish Veneer myself over the old veneer?

Has anyone else done/tried this?

Results, Pictures, Thoughts??

P.S. it doesnt HAVE to be Pioneer speakers, but any type of speaker that you did.

I recently did a complete veneer replacement on a pair of KLH 6's. I did remove all the old original stuff because it was a disaster.

I highly recommend doing so. First of all, nothing easier than applying veneer to a box. Pioneer HPM100 were the first pair of of speakers I veneered and have since done JBL100, Marantz HD880 and Dynaco A25. All veneered with Walnut turned out exceptionally well. I am in the middle of installing Hickory/Pecan veneer to Klipsch Cornwalls and Hereseys will be next.

Use paper back veneer. You'll need a utility knife with several replacement blades. The only special tool needed is a veneer scraper.

Depending on the condition of the cabinets, prep work is minimal.

Here are photos of my Sansui 8080. I veneered the cabinet in Cherry.

Some photos attached of the HPM100, HD880 and A25. Let me know if if you need more info.
