Quad 405 into switched plug on Apt Holman OK?

I’ve searched this and other forums, there seems to be mixed opinions on this. However, I believe the Quad 405 was always meant to be plugged into a switched outlet on a pre-amp (it has no power switch), and my Apt Holman is rated to a maximum of a Kilowatt soooo... shouldn’t be a danger in plugging the Quad into the Apt right? I know some have stated they plugged a small power strip into a pre and then the amp into the power strip (spike prevention?) but plugging it in directly should be just fine, correct? Thanks, opinions appreciated!

Should be. I’ve used a “smart” power strip, which activates power to outlets when power draw is detected on the master outlet, to which the preamp is connected. Saves wear and tear on the preamp’s switch.

Well its not just audio products but even on my computers the power switch is often the first thing to go. I've always used power-strips on quality and hard to replace audio gear like my Quad 34 and 306 which is on my office desk top system as I write this.

Should be safe: 405 draws max 350W, according to specs. But keep in mind, the more power drawn from the Apt to drive other components, can reduce power available to the Apt preamp itself, and this can affect the Apt's performance. I only use those "convenience" outlets on the preamp for low-draw components like TTs, CDs, DACs, Tuners, etc — not power hungry power amps.
