Question 2 preamps 1 amp

Two separate systems in the same room means the front main speakers would need to be used by both systems.

I could help you figure that out if that's what you decide to do.

Thanks. Kind of a conundrum, switching unit for speakers maybe. Or pick up 2 surround speakers for rear the use my 301s as front main surround, have a center channel.

Not necessarily lol.

Two complete systems. Either set of mains can be used in stereo, or as the front mains in surround. But that's not the intention, the Infintys with their matching sub are for dedicated 2 channel music, the Jamos and their twin Dayton subs as the mains for multi channel surround. With this setup I'm able to separate the surround mains farther apart for greater separation than would be best for 2 channel music playback, but optimal for video.

Nice setup thats kinda where i am wanting to go. So how do you have all this wired together?

With one preamp.

Connected one amp and speakers to one set of main outputs as normal.

Connected another amplifier and speakers to the second set of main outputs as normal (if only one set of mains a Y splitter will do).

Connected my surround processor into the preamps processor loop (a tape loop would would also work), two amps into the appropriate outputs on the processor (center channel, and surround channels), connected appropriate speakers to amps.

If wanting to listen to 2 channel stereo, I turn on the preamp and whichever power amp connected directly to it that I want to use at the time.

If wanting surround follow above instructions, then turn on processor, two additional amps (center, and surround) and engage the processor loop on the preamp.

I can also have bother front mains on simultaneously but why lol?

I might try that config but move my eq to the tape loop. Could use a y for rear speakers connect input to amp using a y from both preamps the use the speaker select to turn off or on for 4 channel music off when using the surround preamp.
