Hi everyone, I'm new here and new to vintage solid state. Found a McIntosh MA5100 on the street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan - that it didn't have tubes is the only reason it was still on the street, I suspect.
I hooked it up and tried it out but it sounded faint. So I started doing some testing, and at least tracked down that a capacitor was not working properly.
The capacitor is a Spague 40MFD - 200VDC, and I figured I'll get a replacement. But what puzzles me a bit is that the schematics have a different capacitor listed - a 50MFD - 150VDC.
My question is simply this: should I replace exactly whats there or should I trust the schematic instead? Can it possibly make any difference or am I just overthinking this?
