Question For Nakamichi RX-202 Owners About Reversing Function

Hi, all. When you rewind a cassette to the beginning with auto-reverse (continuous) enabled, does the time counter reset? When I rewind a tape on my RX-202 with auto-reverse enabled it begins playing when fully rewound, but does not reset the counter. I wanted to know if this was normal as it is a bit annoying and seems like an odd detail for Nakamichi to overlook. Thanks!

Thanks, Zedex. Another friend confirmed the same via social media.

It just seemed odd that the deck would automatically rewind and then start playing without resetting the counter.

Oh well.

I think the closest you will get for an analog cassette deck is that button they sometimes provide called, return to zero.

Lots of manufacturers (Revox, Tandberg, Sony) made decks that reset to zero are rewind, on start of play. Most Nakamichis do not, thought the 505 and 303 reset when they flip. Not positive on the 202, Id have to check.

When the tape on my RX-202 reverses, the counter is reset to 0. But, like you've already heard, if it's rewound, it does not.
