R.I.P. to a Great one! Meatloaf is gone!

The video for "Paradise..." with them on stage performing it, is excellent. And yes, I know that gal was lip-syncing to the vocals of the original gal who sang that part. I forget her name.

Is there a link or is it for sale? I'd buy a good video of that.

I saw him live in concert fairly recently (about 3 years ago). He had lost a step or two from his prime, but the band was absolutely rocking and we enjoyed the show. Very sad to lose him.

He had quite a voice, and some pretty memorable songs. RIP.
It's very probable that he died from being old and in poor health brought on by being overweight for most of his life. It happens. He got to live an incredible life and have an incredible career. I'm happy for him that he got to have that life and career.
This isn't a tragedy.

I don't know of anything. I first saw it probably on MTV and then, in the late eighties and into the nineties when the big thing was to have a big screen hanging on the wall in the bars with a projection TV and they would play and show videos on it.

Of course it's on YouTube.

U tube is much better than nothing. Will have a look. It's ready made for a video.

Jim Steinman wrote the songs. Meat Loaf made them his in the performance.
Todd Rundgren has to be given his due as producer also.

The idea, songs were Steinman's, the performances were led by Meat Loaf, the album was Todd's contribution. Steinman and Meat never ceased to praise Rundgren as a virtuoso and genius. Todd awed them.

They needed a guitar solo for one of the songs. Todd strapped on his guitar, punched out the solo in one take, ad lib and that is the solo that was released. When Todd produced other artists, their albums all sounded like Todd Rundgren albums.

Todd was the only person who wanted to have anything to do with the album and he saw the potential immediately. No Todd Rundgren, no Bat Out Of Hell. Steinman and Meat both benefitted greatly from their alliance with Todd Rundgren.

I absolutely could not stand, and still can’t handle his voice or the band. Meatloaf sucked IMHO but I respect that they entertained many people.

Rest In Peace Meatloaf.
I know it's totally taboo to rip somebody on their RIP thread. However ... we're pregnant. He just seemed like a show tune guy. There's a modern band called "fun" and it's the same problem. But he died so RIP.

"Paradise' was a duet with Ellen Foley that featured play-by-play from New York Yankees broadcaster Phil Rizzuto, who alleged, to much skepticism, that he was unaware of any alternate meanings to reaching third base and heading for home."

The very 1st album I ever needed to replace. Many of my friends were familiar with him from "Rocky Horror" but not fans of the album. They would later add it to their collections. Over time my favorite has come to be "For Crying Out Loud". Very few live performances of him performing it. RIP Mr Aday. Thanks for sharing your talents and providing one of the best soundtracks to my late teen years.
