There WERE such "purpose-built" things made, they were called "chairsides", they usually had magazine racks in 'em...This looks more like a home made deal, though..

Looks nice, but if I was going to grab a in table radio, it would be the Kent Atwater 55C in the Keil table like this one... Sure are sweet looking pieces of furniture with some fine electronics..

Don't forget, we used to export a lot of radios during a time when in other countries it was highly illegal to receive radio broadcasts of any kind, probably still is in a few countries. There was a niche market for "hidden" radios and they came in all shapes and sizes. One of my favorites appears simply as a volume of 4 books, placed in any bookshelf with other books it's incredibly well disguised.

There have been posts here over the years that showed "hidden" radios built into beds, desks, and tables, and even odder things. Some of them looked to have been good quality, others, less so. Cool stuff, when it is original and decently made!

This is a factory radio, Its made by a company called bendix, the knob pulls control the radio and the dial face/point lights up and shines through the wood door. I can't find one that is lite up. It is a cool radio if you can get them down to 100/75$ I would take it.
