Rare canadian solid state receiver

Okay, I've gotta ask - how/where did you 'kinda bump into' that? As a fellow Ottawan, I'm curious...

Nice score!

Me too

I like ........

I would love to get my hands on a Canadian built receiver. Bought an all in one off Ebay. It was destroyed in shipping. Had a Dual 1010s turntable on it. Would have loved to have been able to fix it up.

Its the same feeling I have for my GE and Zenith portable radios built here in the USA. A good feeling. Dont get me wrong. I love my Pioneer,TEAC, and Dual stuff. Definitely a keeper.:thmbsp:

Thanks Widster for the informative specs on the Planar line.No guessing and semi accurate speculations...I've heard that it was made in Japan by Mitsubishi,That I stuck a Pioneer badge on a sx-535 or somthing, that it's a low-end Electrohome product and looks like a cheap Pioneer inside or a NEC,and by no means resembles a Marantz, and more of the same....
And on a sweeter note;the preamp section on the sr 2080 is warm and relaxing with great clarity, even when using a mid-grade Technics turntable and stylus ...Been listening all day.Headphones sound very good from this receiver too.

My, that first paragraph is heartwarming, let me be the first to apologize for even being so bold as to see any similarity between my ''low-end'' Electrohome and your piece, even though they look remarkably similar, which was my point. Sorry to have wasted your time. :thmbsp:

I was getting jabs from guys here in my hometown Ottawa, questioning the quality ect...For those in the know, and for those who have heard one and had the pleaure to use one......Enjoy.
