Rare Holy Grail Frazier Model Elevens

What a great thread! Just read every word, like a novel I couldn't put down. It has changed my perspective; I'm now convinced that my Klipsch Fortes are mini-monitors. Thanks to RS Steve for his effort and research, and for sharing it here.

I'm happy you have enjoyed my experience, the fun still goes on around here since the Model Eleven's arrived. Once I was able to get them recapped, and adjusted to my listening space, it has been quite a journey. Since they are so revealing, I have started to enjoy many other types of music that have quality recordings. You can really get the sense of how these model speakers were designed by ear, once you get them adjusted to their sweet spot, you just get a grin on your face. :music:

The Frazier speaker story, history, and quality build, just adds to the enjoyment. The Model Elevens hit you with such an uncolored, solid, and big soundstage, that you close your eyes and your at the concert. How Jack was able to get all these drivers to mix together, and sound good will probably always be sort of a mystery. :scratch2:

Hard to imagine going back to laptop or cell phone speakers again isn't it? :-)

Kidding aside, this thread is a very enjoyable and informative read, thank you for documenting your work and research so well for all of us.

Thank you faber12, we F.U.G. members (Frazier Users Group) have been able to confirm that their are 6 pair of Model Elevens that are still known to exist. I'm sure that there has to be more out there, but most likely ended up in a basement or something. These monsters would be very hard to throw away without getting noticed :D, I'm just happy these found their way here. :thmbsp:

You guys seen that ad on Tampa CL. Looks like he has a ton of gear and he mentions having Model Elevens.

Dynaco ST-70 / PAS 3X pushing the Eleven's

This Dynaco ST-70 seems to have just the right amount of wattage to bring out the best tube sound through the model Eleven's. There's nothing quite like having a concert in your own living room! These Fraziers's just keep on impressing me. :thmbsp: :music:

Sounds like true synergy.

I always thought those Motorola piezo tweeters were a unique feature of white van speakers?

In part, but they were also used other places, such as in the renowned Dalquist DQ-10.

Yeah, they were a very easy way to ad crispness without needing a crossover for them. Jack Frazier seemed to do very well by using them on some models. I don't think I can hear high enough to know what they are doing, :D all I can say is, the speakers are liking tubes.

A few high-end manufacturers used piezo tweeters to good effect. Many lower-end manufacturers used them to horrible effect.

My first good speakers were Frazier MK 4 s . Those had a 12 inch woofer 2 - 4 inch mids
And single Piezo tweeter . I bought them in 1976 for $ 400.00
I remember them being very efficient .

I have a pair of MK IV's, and Concerto's, both are very efficient and great with tubes.

They look shorter, did you take the wheels out from under them?

They are 56" tall, and yes I removed the dollies that I used to move them around initially. At 236 lbs. each they are not fun to move.

Most people look at the arrangement of the mids and tweeters and say they should be located differently for best sound, but since the big 15" driver is for midbass, they image much better than you'd think. The 12" woofer is crossed at 400 hz to deliver the deep bass.
