Rare speakers

That's very cool how they use colors for the different model numbers.

How rare can they be? They don't even have square drivers!

My only experience is a lone curbside Light Blue with a blown tweeter. Not much of an experience. But, people say wonderful things about them, and of course that inverted dome tweeter did pretty well for Genesis and EPI when old Winslow used it....

The larger inverted dome tweeter that some of the Burhoes use has real merit.

Tough to find replacements though. The one I have is a 1.5" (I think the # is TL 1.5 or some such), it's a mid-tweeter. I think a lot of the EPI and Genesis used a smaller one (1").

They look really nice! Looks like they are in nice shape, but you never know unless you hear them. Yes, I bet parts would be next to impossible.

Don't know if this is still true, but as of a couple of years ago, you could actually contact Winsloe Burhoe through his Silent Speaker site.

Human Speakers allegedly rebuilds those tweeters, but I've heard far more stories from AKers of 'no response' from them than stories of success.

I guess the seller wasn't getting what they wanted ($200 was highest bid placed), so they canceled the auction.

I don't know what they typically go for, but I'm surprised that the seller turned his or her nose up at 200 bucks -- Burhoes are rare, but they also aren't that sought after, are they?

Rare does not necessarily equal extremely valuable. Great speakers but I don't think they're worth 2 bills.

Ran into an ad on CL today for a squarish postwar style RCA radio phono console. They often go begging at auctions, lucky to get $25 for one. This lady wanted 'highest offer over $600." I emailed to politely let her know that these consoles aren't worth that. She said thanks and she was just 'testing the market.'
