Re-foaming woofer advice

All in all it's a very rewarding experience to do it yourself. Let us know how it turns out.

hope they turn out good. who knows how long they would be in a shop (my yamaha's have been in a shop since late february, haven't gotten any work yet).

Definitely contact Looneytunes on ebay. I have purchased many kits from him and there always perfect.

Ok, decided I would start the rehab today. Was only going to do some, but went all the way. Would give myself a B+/A-. Two lessons: it’s more about removing the foam than the adhesive, and work on scraping the cone with the blade point facing up. I nicked the cone in a couple of spots. Also, took a couple go rounds to get the foam gaskets down to paper

Yes, it's tedious with all the prep work, but just like painting, the finished product will be better.

damn, was going to install them, but realized the new woofers had a wider spade, and the PO of course replaced the narrower connectors. so the existing ones are two big.

anyone know the proper spade (female) connector size? i can't find it in my local hardware stores (brought the woofer in with me).

Called Best Buy, nothing. the crossover wire pic is the spade fitting i need. hardware store is either to big or small.

You could clip them and solder to the speaker connectors. Just a bit more work if you ever take them out again.

not sure what clip means, but can i used small alligator clips instead of spade receivers? or maybe use tiny bolts/nuts through the spade holes? so close yet so far with these woofers.

By clip I mean cut. Cut the connectors off the wires, strip back 1/2" of the insulation and solder them onto the tabs on the speakers.

Installed! Finally found the right size connectors: 22-18
