Realistic 2100D

Read a few threads about the Realistic 2100 being a great receiver. Well I am going to look at a 2100D at 6:30 this evening and wanted some info on the quality of this receiver. It seems there are some build differences between the 2100 and the 2100D. Thanks for any help or opinions you can throw my way.

As you have read, it is one of the Realistic receivers to have. They had to change the power supply from the 2100 because Pioneer sued for some type of infringement. They may also have added FM Dolby as they did with the 2000/2000D but that is a non issue.

If the price is right, grab it. I love my STA-2000 and am always on the lookout for the STA-2100.

Thanks for the replies. The price seems very reasonable. Owner says only issue is the meter bulbs are out but the meters work. He has owned it since 2001 which coincidentally is when I lost my Pioneer 1010 in a fire. From photos he sent the wood looks to be in very nice condition and the unit itself appears very clean. Unless there is a major miscommunication I'm sure I'll bring it home. If it's a go I'll post some pics later.
 
Those meter bulbs are just fuse bulbs with blue tint. Easy enough to find, but they were a pain to get to on my STA-2000. Do not let a little dirt deter you. Mine looked like someone emptied the vacuum cleaner in it. It cleaned up just fine.

Finally picked it up

Well I went to look at the 2100D the other night and besides the meter bulbs being burnt there was a piece of masking tape over the power switch. Owner says when you turn it off you sometimes have to fool with the switch to have it stay pushed in(on). Sounded good on FM, phono and aux(CD) but the switch had me worried. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find one. Made him an offer and he said he didn't want to let it go for that as he had others coming to see it. Last night he called to see if I was still interested and if so come and get it. So I did. Need to clean cobwebs, dust and yes that is a bug inside the tuner glass. Also a question. Is the power switch fixable or do I need to start hunting one down? In the mean time I will plug it into a power strip.

Switch fixed

Started cleanup with air, vacuum,and soft bristle paint brush. Turns out the power switch was surrounded by crud. Carefully cleaned it all away, gave it a shot of deoxit and lube, now seems to work fine. I will finish my cleaning and deoxit all controls then post fresh pics.
 
Nice Reciever, I'm a big fan of Realistic Gear. I had the STA 90 in 77 and loved it. I Still have their STA-7 10 wpc Reciever from 79 which I use for my smaller TV in the living room, and it still works fine.

Stick the cockroach on the tip of the Tuning Needle so you can see it easier, Or slide him down on the needle so he doesn't obscure the Dial Numbers.

Can't wait til tomorrow

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. I also have a couple other Realistics. A STA 90 & STA 870(all silver) but this beauty is a monster. I have to go to a birthday party tonight and will have to wait for tomorrow to finish it up and put it back together. Also will try to find meter bulbs before putting the faceplate back on. New pics in the next 8-12 hours.
 
Power switch

Thank again for all comments and replies. After finishing cleaning I thought I would power it up before putting the faceplate back on and assembling case knobs etc.. Well it seems like the power switch has a short somewhere. The unit lights up with the button pushed about 4/5 of the way in. When you go the last fraction of an inch you could hear a slight shorting noise and when it locks in place there is no power. Monday I will remove the switch and try to test it and make sure there are no bare or touching wires. Two questions I would have if anyone here knows 1)Where to come up with a switch for a 2100D & 2)Is it interchangeable with other models. Of course I will post a WTB in barter town but wondered if someone knew a source. Thanks again.
