Started a new rotation in my systems today. Lab 400 turntable hooked to the Realistic sta 2200 receiver. Through klipsch rp 600 m speakers. It sound pretty damn good and was just thinking that turntable came out in 78 I think.

One of my biggest regrets is selling mine decades ago. What a solid, workhorse of a table.

$199.95 in 1978 = $826 in today's money.

I've admired the looks of the Lab 400 for years, and eagerly read about how well liked it was by those who owned one.
Alas I have never had the pleasure of owning one myself, but recently came across a great deal on a pristine Lab 440 (the 1982 successor of the 400) and it has become a favourite due to its great sound and ease of use.
Although I said the 440 (my 5th turntable) would be my last, if I saw a great deal on a pristine 400, I would likely not be able to resist.
Hope you enjoy your table in good health!

A once common table, but you don't read hardly any threads on the site about troubleshooting. I consider that a great thing that speaks for itself.

Glad to see some love for the Lab 4xx tables! I currently run a Lab 440 in my daughters guitar/listening area. The Lab 440 inputs to a Kenwood KR-4070 receiver driving a pair of Acoustic Research AR 2xa’s. It’s a fantastic sounding system. And the Lab 440 is rock solid.
