Realistic Minimus 2.5 mods

I bet the plastic baffle was most of the problem, I had a pair of powered speakers with 4 inch full range drivers and they sounded like crap in their metal and plastic enclosure, I took the drivers out and put them in a extra pair of satellite boxes made from MDF and they sounded totally different, the hollow garbled mid rage was gone, I think they sounded congested because so much sound came back through the plastic baffle.

Could very well be. IIRC, sticking putty behind the plastic baffle to damp it helped to some extent. I get a kick out of looking at this old thread; this pretty much was my first project tinkering with speakers. Learned SO much since. Fun to see my old setup, in my old appartment as well. :)

I feel a little silly having them in a daily use system when there are many higher quality sets stored away. That being said, they draw much less spousal ire than Boston A100s would...

Even if you demonstrate the evident difference when you spin her favorite tunes? :)
