Reanodize Face Plate?

Nothing compared to the time I had a half gallon of *boiling concentrated* sulfuric acid break out of its container on my kitchen stove- turned the nearby dishtowels instantly to a charcoal layer fused onto the countertop, and left a patina on the stainless sink... Oh, and chemical pulmonary edema is a thing.

One last comment on anodizing, imagine tanks the size of boxcars full of that boiling hot concentrated sulfuric acid with 24 40' extruded aluminum rods in them passing some thousands of volts of electricity. Blowers that were much larger than the tanks in order to keep the fumes to a government approved level. Wasn't enough, I've got between 85 & 90% lung capacity ... and I worked in the office. There were people on the plant floor that had to be hospitalized repeatedly.

Makes wearing a mask tricky these days when you tend to pass out after about an hour.

If nobody can find a trace of the bodies, do you still have to file an OSHA incident report?

That's terrible! Exposure can even kill you days later, drowning you in your sleep as your lungs fill with fluid, with only minimal prior symptoms.

Well I'll tell you this much, Mike's Anodizing Company takes much better care of their employees. As I said, Mike gave me a tour and much to my surprise there was no odor or noxious fumes that I could detect at all. I expected the place to stink and was pleasantly surprised.

There is not any information in the laser etching that needs to be on the unit. I would skip that and leave them as they are. Simple. You know and most anyone else could figure out the information if needed.

I agree. They look great the way they are.
Thanks for the info about anodizing. I've always wondered if it was possible to get small batch jobs done. I have a friend who runs a print shop so with enough beer I would likely be able to get the silk screening redone, the anodizing was always the hurdle.

Leave them as is. I'm not reacting to the money, but to the aesthetic. The three units look right, as they are: the two power amps look like subsidiary parts of a whole, controlled from the third "master" unit.

M'frs want their name on everything they make. But your three units speak for themselves, in a single laid-back voice...

Simple is good and you're right, it's not like a preamp where you may actually need silk screening to tell you what things do or which source you're selecting. And regarding the THX certification, I specifically told the etching company that I did not want that included It's a bunch of marketing garbage and the original silk screen looks bad anyway.

I think you guys have me convinced. At the very least I don't think they will look better if laser etched, and once it's done it is permanent. Not doing the laser etching also saves money.

I do really like to keep an OEM look when I mod though, and something in me would really love the have the "LX-7 Power Amplifier" with the ellipse around it like the MC-10 has (wouldn't mind the power button logo either). I think if I do anything I'll look at silk screening again with colors that match the MC-10. But I wouldn't be surprised if I never bother with it at all. At least with sild screening if I don't like it I can always remove it again unlike etching.

It does sound funny at first, but I have been considering a clear plastic stick on for the "LX-7 Power Amplifier" to just slap on and see how it looks. I would want to match the color of the ellipse and text of the MC-10.

Yeah, you're right. I'm really happy with it all at this point.

Now I need to make my equipment rack deeper to properly accommodate these because they are so deep. It's been close with other pieces of kit before, but this put it over the top.
