The Kenwood tuner is wonderful and the amp should be good, but it's in need of some serious cleaning. The Sansui receiver might be worth having.

I would not rule the Fisher out either. It is probably a post-Avery Fisher(pre 1969) era receiver but pre-Sanyo(post 1975). That would be when they were owned by Emerson and before the quality went to pot. I would look at his stuff if you do not mind going to Ferguson.

Looks like someone clearing out the back room of an old shop. Some gems in there and the prices are right. If someone had the space and money, you could make an offer on the lot, score a couple keepers and clean up and resell the rest.

The pioneer 750 is the best of the small Pioneers, and a great receiver IMO. I Also had the Sherwood 7100. Nice warm sounding receiver.

Yah agree, Pioneer is a pretty nice sounding unit but the Sherwood is for sure the value leader here...

Doesn't that Mitsubishi have a digital tuner? I don't know much about that model.

So, of the following receivers, how would they work with my awesome Sound Dynamics 300Ti speakers?

- Sherwood S7100A - 18 wpc @ 8 Ohm
- A/D/S R1 - 35 wpc @ 8 Ohm
- Fisher 122 receiver - 15 wpc @ 8 Ohm

I'm wondering if the above receivers will have enough power to adequately drive those speakers.

If not, I may use one of the above receivers to drive my Canton Plus S speakers (with likely addition of a sub).

That A/D/S is apparently a relabled Braun. Interesting little bugger.

The Dual and Philips should be nice spinners, and that weird little Telefunken was used in some Braun consoles that bring big money.

That Sansui 3500 (not the quad model) looks very cool. I think I read 1969 or 1970. Price is a bit higher at $80, but this one is speaking to me.

Might be the cornerstone for my package deal.

Not much on-line about that 3500 model, that's for sure.

Hi El C!

If the impedence rating of those speakers are 8ohm, then either one would be ok I would think, its jus' what type of sound do you want? For that, would have to listen to each one to narrow that down.

For me, I am partial to some Sherwood receivers & would go with that one, but they do have a flaw regarding the power switch. Many have to be repaired or bypassed.

Let us know which one you go with.

Thanks Rome. The speakers are 4 ohm. Is a 4 ohm load handled easier by the amp/receiver than an 8 ohm load?

I don't think the speakers are super efficient, 89db maybe?
