Reciever for Klipsch KG-4s

Picked up a pair of 5.2 a few years ago. Were disappointing. Put the Crites diaphragms in the tweeters livened the top end but clearly a gap in the mid range. Tweeter and woofer clearly not blending. Recapped and replaced the tweeter polyswitch with the suggested modern replacement. Became a wall of sound, totally different sound without a noticeable gap between the woofer and tweeter.

Was using a Sansui 5000A with them before right now have a Kenwood KR-7400 driving them. Can fill the apartment with sound without turning the volume up very high. No need for the loudness circuit with them.

Sansui got a very nice look to them. The Kenwood looks very similar to the Sansui 6060, it sounds like you like you prefer the Kenwood?

Was looking at the Sansui G5700 and wow what a beautiful receiver.
 
i have looked at home and found some old kiplisch very similar to the ones in the Photo but the box is bigger and maybe the woofers are smaller maybe more old, they were bought in 76, i think. Also have to say that the receivers you refer are very good sounding if working properly, i had a very similar kenwood in my room ,it had a timer that it was very handy , because i used to fall a sleep while listening to music, about the kiplisch speakers , i don´t understand when you say it had no mids ,mine are very detailed ,normally i use them to listen to records ,just because they have a very good sound in mid,high and low frequencies, and having two dedicated loudspeakers to bass and normally one delivers either than bass the mid frequencies this to achieve a better low frequencies not midle range frequencies, but i didn´t listen to your system so you might be right, but something is not right ,you should check them maybe a driver is faulty

About the loudness ,when younger i always used the loudness on ,it made the sound more dynamic but when listening to low volume music at night i put the loudness on so i can hear the both ends of the spectrum frequencies , normally without loudness they can´t be heard
