Recommend a headshell for GT-2000

Hi folks,

Santa will bring me a Yamaha GT-2000 for Christmas!

Can you please recommend to me a good headshell for this great TT?

I have the following 2 cartridges available:

AudioNote IQ2 MM
or
Orfofon quintet blue MC

I have that HS-1a on my gt2000. I also rotate in carts using Ortofon Lh8000 and 9000. All are great.

I have a Yamamoto and some SMEs but I would like an Orsonic.

My choice might be influenced by the cartridge being used if the difference in mass will change the performance of the cartridge in that arm.
 
I like all of the options mentioned. The overriding consideration is that the arm can balance out the combined weight of the cartridge and headshell.
 
If possible get one that allows for azimuth adjustment. It's definitely key to getting your cart dialed in on the YA-39 arm. Ideally you'd get an HS-11 but the Audio Technica LH13 is a close match, includes azimuth adjustment and certainly looks the part. If possible you want to keep the combined cartridge/headshell weight to around 18-20 grams.

Azimuth is pertinent. I second the suggestion.

You're not alone. I have serious lust for an Orsonic headshell. Also, the Korf headshell from Germany is another one I am seriously interested in.
 
Kent, I will PM you. I'll say for everyone else:

Only buy Orsonic headshells from Japan. I strongly suspect that phony Orsonics have been sold via Hong Kong for over 10 years.

They once were like hens teeth. Since about 2006 there has been a miraculous endless supply via a Hong Kong seller. I will never, ever, name the individual. Regard this as sufficient warning.

This is not saying that there are zero genuine Orsonic headshells in Hong Kong. Just watch and note who seems to have a bottomless supply of Orsonic headshells.

Dear all. thanks a lot for the recommendation.
i bought a HS-1A Yamamoto.
Together with the audio note IQ2 the weight will be around 17g.

Got my Orsonic from Hong Kong and have no reason to believe it is anything but original.
That said, I find it no better or worse, sonically, than the Yamamoto headshells I also have.
My next headshell will be one of Korf's ceramic models, which would also work well on your GT-2000 tonearm..

she arrived!





I installed the HS-1A Yamamoto and the Audionote IQ2.

In regards to the alignment are you using a specific protractor?

I used the universal Baerwald and Loefgren protractor.

She sounds absolutely awesome.
I struggled a bit with a lound humm of the right channel but it seems settled.

clear improvement over the LP12
