Records That You Wouldn't Mind Never Seeing Again

Yeah, it's because she cranked out so many albums. Attractive woman (I've always gone for the be-speckled look), but I can't stand her music. Mostly Schlager.

I was at a thrift this past week, where I counted over forty in one collection.:thumbsdn::yikes:

Lawrence Welk-especially Calcutta and Moon River. These two albums are everywhere!

I have a perverse interest in records of all TV themes from the 50s,and 60s.I once found 1959 stereo Coral Record,by Mr."Bubbles In The Champagne",doing nothing but TV western theme songs, like "Gunsmoke","Wyatt Earp",and "Have Gun Will Travel".

Only copy I've ever seen...

Laser Discs
Anne Murray
Babs S.
Elton John
Dan Fogelberg
10CC
Rush
Allan Parsons
Loggins and Messina
Steely Spam
etal.

I did manage to find a good copy of Freeze Frame a few months ago, and like my Herb Alpert records. I think it said on wikipedia that he's sold 75 million records worldwide.

And I think 74,990,000 of them are currently in thrift stores..

Here's a particular favorite. My thrift store experience isn't complete until i stumble onto a copy of this...or ten:

thorenstd124, I've seen the "Mary Poppins" ST, but I don't recall ever seeing the other three in your post. Interesting.

The bins here are full of "Whipped Cream", "First Family", and Firestone Christmas. For a long time, no trip to a thrift was complete without finding a copy of "You Can Tune A Piano, But You Can't Tune A Fish". Some good stuff there (happy memories, anyway), but EVERY flippin' store?

Anything with Mitch Miller, Man that guy had one massive output of about every type album except rock and roll it seems, I'm not sure how many albums were put out under his name but some days it seems like HUNDREDS

90 Minutes with Arthur Fiedler.

I bought this one time because they had some equipment pics on the back. When I played the album, the SQ was terrible. Not even three washes improved the sound. I guess that's what happens when you try to squeeze 45 minutes on each side.

What, just one??? :lmao:

Sometimes just for schitz and giggles I leave a Herb Alpert LP in the front of every rack I thumb through. Once got a whole 3 level side done up at a Salvation Army, with a whole middle row of "Going Places"

I once grouped all the babs records in one area at a GW, it took up a whole row which is just about a foot and a half long, stranger still, it was mostly Color Me barbara, My name is Barbara and 2, greatest hits and the one with the poodle.

I have a local thrift with a room full of record bins of 100% crap that was apparently sold/dumped on them from a record store awhile back. maybe 3 dozen bins. dozens and dozens of slim whitman, roger whittaker, helen reddy, babs.

I need to motivate myself to actually check the bins once in awhile in case there is something interesting (rarely anything), so I amuse myself by putting a copy of a Babs record at the front of every bin. I should get a picture - it's quite a sight to walk into the room with 3 dozen Babs records staring back at you. I also consider it a neighborly warning for fellow crate diggers that they are entering a wasteland.

Boy, where do I start! Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream...", really anything by Perry Como, Al "He's the King" Hirt, Mitch Miller, the Ray Charles Singers, Enoch Light Singers, drab 60's or 70's "gospel" i.e. Speer Family (I'd love to find some Selwyn Cox though). Soundtracks for Oklahoma and West Side Story (although the music is quite good). The Firestone Christmas album is in a league of it's own!

There was a recent thread on common albums that might actually be worth a listen
