I have seen some good threads on head cleaning etc but any insight on internal lubrication on moving parts on a TEAC X7R?

Post the model and I'm sure someone can help--some have multiple motors and servos, some have belts, so there is not one "fits all" response.

On my Sony Reel-to-Reel I used White Lithium Grease from Home Depot on all mechanical moving parts. For the motor(s) I use Liberty Oil Products 100% synthetic which I got online and is used by other Reel-to-Reel restorers. Hope this helps.

You can download Service Manual from hifiengine.com for free (you have to register) and get all the necessary info on lubrication.
They is usually very good info in TEAC manuals.

Yes, Teac's manuals were well written and explain key maintenance well. However, do remember the X line Teacs and Tascams use that very weak DC capstan motor, replace the capstan belt semi annually. This motor is expensive, and needs as little stress on it as possible for this motor to last. With the Gibson Guitar buyout of Teac, parts may well be a future problem on these machines. So, treat yours kindly.

Really! Gibson as in Gibson guitars bought out Teac? That is interesting. Wonder what they are going to do with Teac division? :scratch2:

Yes, they did. And you nor I know what will happen with classic products. The Tascam digital gear is safe.
