Sounds like that's a good thing, in your case. I like mine...as with many tables I own, mods are easy, not too expensive, and can deliver significant performance improvement. I always found that the greatest weakness of the Planar 3 series, at least the older ones, is that they almost always came with the Elys cartridge, which I just don't like. Mine was a demo unit at a high-end audio store that was going out of business in the early 90's, so I took it with the Elys. Tried to like it, finally gave up and put a different cart on it...don't even remember what. Significant improvement. Right now it is equipped with a 2M Blue, which I like pretty well.
