Rega Planar II

I purchased a new lift assembly for this TT. Can anyone tell what tools to use to:(1) remove the set screw that holds the banana-shaped device that contacts the tone arm; and (2) unscrew the tubular device containing the viscous fluid?

very small allen wrench

I'm going to assume this is for the older Silver coloured S-shaped arm ( oddly enough - given the vast quantity sold- I've never had to replace the cue cylinder on a RB series arm!). IIRR -you'll need a very small allen ( sometimes referred to as a hex ) wrench -you don't give your location -but assuming a good local hardware store - I'd just walk in with the thing in my hand and buy the tool -should be cheap.
Where'd you find the part?

The tone arm is black. I purchased the lift assembly from a Rega distributor in England. I am located in Cherry Hill, NJ. Not too good with posting photos.
I have 2 sets of Allen wrenches, standard and metric. As small as 5/64 inch and whatever 1.5 is metric. Both too big.
Removing cylinder seems more difficult. looks like I need a needle nose pliars, smaller than my smallest. Does that seem correct?

Not a 200 series

This has got to be a newer arm -RB series.Looked at mine a min. ago. You'll need that small allen to get the platform off the top of your cylinder. Repaired a bunch of these (RB-300's) that guys screwed up in abortive attempts to rewire or otherwise improve them.
But since they weren't broke - never really even took a good look at the cuing system.
Do the new parts give you any clues? Is it possible that once the platform is removed - you would unscrew the top of the cylinder assembly by putting a tool into the small detents that are opposite each other on the top of the cylinder and then using these to unscrew the top plate? Given the replacement parts -does this seem likely ?
You might want to contact the importer / distributor in Texas - they must of replaced some of these given the vast numbers sold. What table is this off of ? This would tell us which arm it is . Older arms had a vertical cylinder - the newer "1" series appear to have laid this cue cylinder out horizontally . Are you sure your parts are for your arm?
Unless someone who really knows ( has done this repair task themselves) - tells you to use 'em - would not use a pliers.

probably the same ?

Took a closer look at the pictures -so both cylinders ( either 250 or 251 ) seem to be pretty much the same as my current RB-600.It's too bad that there doesn't seem to be a e-mail link on Rega's website ( or did I just miss it ?) -but I'd at least take a shot at talking to the US importer .
Please contribute to the knowledge base by posting what you learn at the end of the process - even a "I gave up and sent it in for service" is useful info for the next person who runs into this problem.
