Rega RP1 running too fast, help!

Hi,

My Rega RP1 turntable with the white belt seems to be running around 1-1.2% too fast according to turntabulator (I know this isn't extremely reliable). I purchased it recently and I believe it is still under warranty... is this issue something I should be worried about or should I just suck it up and enjoy my turntable? I have read around the forum and have seen that this is an issue for other RP1 owners. Is this something that all the RP1 turntables share?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as always!

Rega has a reputation for running fast. My P5 would spin at 33.5 rpm. It was steady, but a tad fast.

If it really bothers you, could try increasing the diameter of the subplatter kind of like this:

You could always try and good belt from a seller that sells quality. Not the common ebay generic belts but good ones, not all belts are the same.

Did you question the sound before you measured it? If it sounds fine, let it go. On the other hand, if Neil Young sounds like Alvin the chipmunk...

The white belt is a Rega upgrade from their standard black belts.

Michael Lim was selling a subplatter designed to adjust the speed to 33.3, but I don't know if that's still available. Some info here:

Sounds fine but my ears aren't as accustomed to pitch changes (i'm completely knew to the world of hifi!). I was looking at the 'little belter' which is supposed to be superior to the rega white belt but I'm really unhappy at the so called 'upgraded' white belt.

I tend to notice speed instability faster than a table that runs steadily fast or slow. Instability will sound like a warble on sustained piano notes, for instance.

If I was in your situation, I'd leave the RP1 alone and would go shopping for some high quality vinyl.
