Rega Turntable Upgrade

Product upgrade is a completely new topic for me. Mainly to make a correct decision and not overdo it, but at the same time to improve the sound quality of my turntable.

I am the owner of the old Rega Planar 2 with R200 tonearm with a new 2m Ortofon Red cartridge. So what can be done here. I know that these are the options:

- tonearm / tonearem wiring
- motor
- subplatter
- platter (I have a glass one)
- belt
- motor pulley
- plinth (probably easier to go to a new TT than do this)
- cartridge

But what is possible with this turntable and what makes sense? And currently, I am looking at purchase of Simaudio Moon 240i integrated amp and would like my turntable to provide a matching quality of sound. Looking forward to hear those who had done this types of upgrades.

Or maybe, it is better to consider turntable replacement?

The turn table and tone arm are both very capable.

Try upgrading the cartridge first.

Try the recently discontinued Audio Technica AT 440 MLb or the newer version Audio Technica VM540 ML.

VM 540 ML

You can use the new cartridge in a newer turn table later if you still want to make further changes. :)
