Removing a Marantz 1515 faceplate

Hi, I'm replacing the lamps on this unusual model and was wondering, does anyone know how to remove the faceplate on these later Marantzes? I removed all the screws on the bottom of the plate and knobs, including the tuner's with its 1.5mm set screw. It is sliding out at the bottom, but I can't seem to budge it at the top. I don't see any more screws. Any ideas?



BTW, this thing sounds amazing to me. I'm not sure it doesn't best my old 2230 (which probably needs a recap). With a measly 15 watts it drives those infamously inefficient Smaller Advents way louder than I would even want--at just 8 o'clock on the volume dial. Not sure I understand why, but this is just a terrific little receiver.

You have to take the case cover off, there's screws that go straight down in the front (under the cover).

One of the knob shafts on the front may also have a retaining nut on it which would also have to be removed.

Thanks, Wurlyman. This one actually does not have that retaining nut, and I've been able to successfully remove the faceplate and start installing the LED's, thanks to you guys.

But now that I have three of the four lamps in, I'm wondering, should the three little glow squares that light the LED's be angled toward the meters/dial or face full forward?

With them facing forward as in the photos below and with the metal plates loosely covering the bulbs, the dial/meters seem very dim. Thoughts?

Yeah, the original incandescent lamps have 360deg. light output. The led's kinda shoot straight forward. I would rotate them in the holder, maybe 45deg. or so and see what looks the best. If nothing does, go back to the incandescent.

That is just exactly what I needed to know. I watched a number of YouTube videos on relamping but none addressed that issue, and they all looked like they had their LEDs facing forward. Thanks!
