Repairing an old Garrard Model 210. Help?

I'm kinda new to record players, mostly just tinkering with one's I'm given or find. I've got this Garrard "Model 210" and I've just greased it up and got it to spin without locking on me. Now I just need to find a replacement cartridge(?) of stylus(?)
I'm still unsure on my terminology as I'm learning from Google searches. I've got a Shure Dynetic M3D hooked on the inside of a 4 pin cartridge but it's missing the tip of the needle. I'm wondering what my best replacement would be. Any help is most appreciated.

The Shure M3D is the cartridge, which is mounted in the headshell. You would like to either replace the cartridge or replace the stylus.
Pretty cool looking changer, and that Shure cartridge is I believe their first stereo cartridge. If you test the cartridge to make sure both channels are good then you can order a new stylus.

The needle he has tracks from 3-6 grams. Not sure how fine you can get things on your tt..but there is a version of that stylus that tracks much lighter (1.5 to 2.5 grams) from various sellers on eBay, just type in Shure M3D.
If you want to replace the entire cartridge, then I would guess a Shure M44 or M55 would work out. The 55 (elliptical stylus) and 44 (conical stylus) is available from quite a few, its a popular DJ cartridge (back to the bay I guess).

However, the only M 44 option which is viable for that Garrard would be the N 44-C. The SC 35-C would also be a good choice. Elliptical is not recommended on that tonearm.
 
When I worked on one of these last year, I was able to get a replacement stylus for the original M3D for short money on ebay. It was a generic but Shure generics seem to work pretty well. It worked fine at any rate. I believe I set it to 3 or 4 grams and the machine worked very well.
 
Thank you for the quick replies! I downloaded the service manual. Gonna peruse that a bit during my down time. In the meantime, I noticed that the turntable will sometimes spin for a bit but then make a tin "gong" sound and clunk off. This was rectified briefly when I lubricated the speed change mechanism but I'm unsure what exactly could have caused it and why it came back

Sounds like the cycle cam was engaging when it shouldn't be. Usually thats either the trip linkage is tripped, or the bit on the gear that flings out to engage is sticky. The trip linkage and that flippy bit (I'm sure it has a name, I don't know it) need to be clean and dry, no lubrication at all on them. The "gong" is the platter brake. If you pull the platter off, you'll see a thing that looks like a wad of felt attached to the linkage going to the switch. When it shuts off, the switch kicks off and that felt button stops the platter.
