Replacement cartridge/stylus for Dual Turntable

Good decision(s)! Please give us a listening report, especially on the Pickering ViVid Line. They're still something of a mystery as to provenance, etc. (JICO? Namiki? Nagaoka! Who knows?) but all reports on their performance have been quite positive.

And then there is the xsv3000 replacement cartridge on turntableneedles.com for $110!!! How can you possibly know which one to buy???

The correct replacement stylus for the XSV/3000 is the D3000 stylus. I didn't see it at turntableneedles.com.
The XSV/3000 is my favorite cartridge of all time. There is a guy on Epay that offers them NOS with the original stylus. I bought one recently for $150 and it really, really sounds great. The noise from pops, clicks etc. on records really fade away with the Stereohedron stylus.
I have been wondering how good the JICO and LPgear styli are? One thing I have been told about the D3000 stylus is that there is a refinforcing wire that runs down the cantilever that stiffens it up. Pickering had the only machine (custom made) that could make something like that. So any replacements won't have that feature.
And finally, for those interested the original users guide is available at www.vinylengine.com in the library section. It discusses proper set up of the cartridge in quite some detail.
