Hello I need to replace the indicator on/off lamp on my SA-8500 mk 2 amp. Do I need to remove the whole front plate to do this? or whats the easiest way to get to it?

Yep remove the front silver plate (after removing black rear cover). Knobs should just pull off with care (volume knob can stay on). Then the bulb is in a rubber gromit thing that holds it in place. Just work the rubber gromit lose and then you can slide the wired bulb out. Have you got a copy of the service manual?

Thank you for pointing out that the volume knob can stay on because when you said that I just remembered an incident long ago when I had such trouble to get the volume knob off just to realize it was unnecessary. This saved me a lot of hazzle. No haven´t got the service manual.

Hello. I need to remove the power indicator bulb and was trying to remove/pull out the rubber grommet from the inside but it seems very tight so I abandoned the idea and now looking for feedback. So I figure the front faceplate must come off? Any tips you can offer would be appreciated. I'm not an expert when it comes to electronics... I wouldn't want to do more damage to this unit

It's probably glued in.

Do you have a service manual ?

I was able to find a manual online. The easiest way to get that grommet out was to remove the front faceplate. Just needed a nice little tug. Once I can find a 8v 50ma (4mm) wired bulb I should be good to go

one thing to remember when removing the faceplate is that there is no need to remove the volume knob. Lesson learned :)
I have the SA 8500 not the 8500ii. It's a different faceplate for the main volume button, I had no choice but to take it off

Reviving this thread, messaged Dave about a bulb but does the faceplate have to come off or can the bulb come out from the backside?

Hi. I know this is an old thread. Also need to replace the light bulb on my S.A.-8500 II. What bulb type is it? And if it’s led? Thanks

I was able to replace the bulb on my SA-8500. Removed the front plate. Just split the wires. Some shrink wrap and isolation tape. No soldering needed. A quick job. Thanks for the tips.
