I heard this as well, but have no personal experience. You could tin a solid copper wire though.When this question was last asked, someone pointed out that 8ga solid strand was good for this.

Hmmmmm....I never thought of that.I run my speaker cables through a vat of bacon fat before installing them and it really smooths out the highs....
