I definetly need to check out some James Carter,home grown Detroiter.

I have most of his releases and have seen him live...the description in the article is right on. He left my wife and I with our heads spinning. I met him after the show.

I'm surprised I haven't seen him at the DJF.

I know most of the music in the piece and agree. Joe Lovano is obviously a master, but what he plays doesn't stick with me. James Carter is kinda the same, though I like 'Carribean Rhapsody' more than most of his albums.

I can't keep up with David Murray. His 80s stuff on Black Saint-Soul Note and some things after were wonderful, but there's just so much.

David S. Ware is one of my heroes. His 'Live In The World' is maybe the best live jazz of the last 15 years.
