Reputable service techs in your state.

Sadly, I must report that Rick Walker of Walker Electronics of Mathews, NC has passed away after a long bout with cancer. When looking for quality, high-end, vintage electronics service support in North Carolina I can strongly recommend Alex Lok of the Analog Store, Four Oaks, North Carolina. He recently cleaned and serviced my Pioneer Spec-1 and Spec-2, after 40+ years of great, uninterrupted, service. It was apparent that his shop has several McIntosh customers but Alex is both very experienced and quality oriented and will service a very wide range of consumer electronics. Again, great service, on time, reasonable pricing, worth the drive.

Does anyone know anything about / have experience with Progressive Electronics in Pittsburgh? He's listed on the McIntosh website as authorized service, and his web page also says he works on B&O.

If necessary, you can PM me.

Thanks in advance.

Solid State & Vacuum Tubes

Phone: (937) 298-6630

He rebuilt my Pioneer RTR707 and 909 to like new condition. He also did excellent work on several of my solid state and tube amps including two Fisher 500Cs and a McIntosh MAC 4200.

The Soundroom in Johnson City, TN. will ship your unit to somebody in Nashville, if you can get any response at all.

The best tech by far in Southern Ontario is Chris Bridge of Georgetown.
He'a a moderator on diyAudio, 30+ years experience, honest and most of all not ridiculously priced.

He recently checked out my NAK PA-7A MKII and CA-7A; the pre-amp needed major cleaning in the balance and volume controls... done to perfection.

Recap the units? No way, they test fine and better caps haven't yet been invented....... his words.

Searched this thread, apparently still missing a Maryland tech. Cal at Odenton TV and Radio is honest and charges fair prices. He's also one of about 50 techs nationwide endorsed by Reel to Reel site Oaktree Vintage. He can fabricate parts as needed as well (within reason).

They are now located in Randallstown, not Odenton.

I'm hoping for some positive feedback from members who have had dealings with a good service tech.
If you want to recommend give as much info as you can please. ie: name of business,city/town,state, phone# and/or email.

I will be glad to update and post your recommendations for others. tia

Durhams Electronics in Little Rock, Arkansas. Arvil is good and the only tech in the area. Has done good work for me at a fair price too.

There's an audio brick & mortar store in PDX Oregon called "Jamac Audio" on 8600 NE Sandy Blvd. They've been around since 1952 and while I haven't had them repair much for me (yet), they're very generous and resourceful, and from reading some reviews, they make really good offers for the repairs they do. The stuff I've had done or given was for free :D

Just don't expect factory quality work, and you'll be good. Ron is the owner of the store, he works typical 9-5 weekdays. Sometimes he'll be working on Saturdays, but you'd best call him to make sure.

just bumping this to see if there's any good techs (or members) doing repairs in MA., besides vince or dariuscz in boston, don't wanna use those guys.

I'm on the south shore and I don't mind driving but I'd like to avoid boston anyway if I can...thanks.
