Restoring AU-101 Faceplate Lettering

Has anyone been able to restore the face plate lettering, mine has all faded?

OH MY! A challenge! Your best bet is a dry transfer of the graphics. Dry transfers are what we called rub-off or rub-on transfers when I was a kid. I have made them for the air cleaner on my vintage Alfa. They are very delicate, especially during the transfer process. They are quite soft, but will harden a bit. It is best to clear coat them. The alternative is a water slide decal.

I could do the graphics for you, but I would need a very high resolution scan of a face plate. By high, I means something on the order of 1200 dpi.

Your best bet is to source a used face plate.

Thanks ossodiseppia, I will look into the dry transfer option, can also do a 1200dpi scan but will try dry transfer first.
