I met the skipper, Mark Wise, several years ago at an AK get-together at Grumpy's in San Antonio. He gave me a card with contact info and after looking in various piles of business cards, I found it this morning. Before trying to contact him, I searched his name and location. Sadly, I found an obituary showing that he passed away on September 24.

I very much enjoyed meeting and talking with him that day. Any of you familiar with his posting will recognize him in the obit - his interaction with the AK community mirrored his life away from here.

RIP, Mark Wise, aka @the skipper

Dayum! A ray of sunshine has drifted out of AK ...
Thanks for the research.

Looks like his last visit was Sep 17, 2022 - and he's usually pretty regular here.

Skipper shared a while back that he was dealing with some health issues, and was coping with them the best that he could.

He was a man of def principles, and lived by them to the letter!

A soft man in many ways, but he had a steel backbone when it came to an issue esp if he had a knowledge base in certain gear.

His "touch" on AK will be missed.

RIP, Skip.
