This morning's news is reporting the death of Pope Francis at 88 years old. A sad day indeed for those whose lives he touched.

Not (me) remotely religious, but 88yo is a good innings for someone who clearly had a lot of weight on his shoulders and did a mighty fine job of retaining dignity and respect around the world.

I hope he didn't suffer and was surrounded by the people he most wished to be with.

Being spiritual but not religious, and having been disgusted by the actions/policies of too many religions, I'm saddened by the Pope's death. Pope Francis seemed to be the right pontiff for our times. His emphasis on peace, unity, care of those in need, compassion and understanding have fallen on deaf, political ears, worldwide. May we be blessed with more real, moral, leaders such as he was.

From what I have read, he really cared for the down-trodden, and the poor. "Politics" were secondary in his belief system, and was humble in his connection with people.

And after taking in the movie "Conclave" (2024), I wonder what kind of person will follow in this Catholic Creed.

I'd love to describe for you the kind of person(s) who'll follow him, but AK rules prohibit the posting of frank discussion ~ statements regarding the religious meanderings of homo sapiens.

I hear you, Mys.
