RM9 - Same socket killing tube?

What if the screen grid terminal in the tube socket was loose and not making contact or only making intermittent contact? Could that lead to premature tube failure?

I had a RM-9 many years ago and I replaced the WonderCaps, but I did this for sonic reasons, not reliability issues. I really don’t recall hearing of any reliability problems with WonderCaps. However, replacing them with V-Caps would be a major upgrade in sound quality and V-Caps are very reliable so you’d be all set for another 35 years.

I've read every post over on AudioCircle that Roger Modjeski made and he mentioned the incredibly low rate of failure of the Wondercaps but said only a few had failed. So it does happen and perhaps more with time as that was many years ago. The ODAMs were part of the upgrade path I had planned for it. Im definitely going to replace with them when I am able. Planning on this being one of my forever amps.
