Rotary switch for passive tone filter?

Hello,

Was wondering if anyone could advise me on what kind of rotary switch would be good for a passive tone filter I am building for electric guitar. It is a very simple circuit that switches the guitar input between different value capacitors, then straight to output.

The rot switch I'm using now (like this one: https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products/switch-rotary-3-poles-3-position) creates scratching noise when switching.

Any input is much appreciated.

Switches will always bounce when being selected, that's the scratching noise. Based on how these are designed it'll be difficult to prevent bounce between selections on rotary switches. May have to totally disconnect while switching, else have to go with an electronic switch that does debouncing.

yeah that would be the electronic switch, if the level is low enough, CD4051s will do fine for you, just need to hack up (and debounce) the selection circuitry/switch for that.

small amounts of DC leakage also tend to make the switching much noisier, so make sure you don't have that issue as well
