Rs iiib capacitor replacement/upgrades

Just pulled the trigger on capacitors. Emits are getting 6.8 superior Z's mids are getting mundorf supremes and the mid to ground is a Janzen Z. The woofers got a mundorf 220 El a mundorf 330 El and a Dayton 50uf poly. I went over budget but am very much looking forward to the hours of listening that is upcoming. A big thanks to everyone who shared thier time and experience to help simplify this. (My mid problem turned out to be a solder failed on one of the woofers changing the impedance and at lower volume didn't notice the overall higher power to one side)
 
I think the pad behind my tweets and mid had been replaced
Kind of a textured rubber mat
I think a person could use felt as well
 
Just some history on mine.
I traded for them with a set of ESS AMT5's-Midwest Speaker.
They had refoamed the woofers-I use them for repairs I rather not do-like refoaming/etc.

I'm now down to 2 set of speakers-my modded ESS AMT3's,and the Infinity's
They are both great speakers-but the AMT3's with the Jatzens/Mundorf mix are really sounding great-after a super long break-in and the reason in deciding to recap the Infinity's.

A shame that there isn't a standard replacement for that. Every pair I've seen need that or has had something put there. I haven't even considered tackling mine yet.

I'm not familiar with the ESS Amt's but score. I'm not sure what to do myself. My listening area is not ideal as it's a narrow long room so there isnt room for multiple speakers. I currently have my Danny rich's X-statiks shoved behind my infinities while I've been listening to them.
 
The history with mine is, I got bit by the speaker building bug a couple years ago and wanted to work with the Emits. Found a set in an auction with the poly mids. Then months later found the woofers already refoamed. Was originally going to build my own cabinets (had just started them when I found the original boxes) then try my hand at designing my own crossovers with my calibrated mic and Days V2. Now listening to them I truly doubt I could do better than the original. I'm currently listening to them on my flac file library or tidal through an off branded and upgraded tube pre with two denon poa-800 monoaural class A amps. I only wish I had a wider listening area.

I use my with a Van Alstine 10RB preamp and H/K PA2400.
I have a H/K SIG 1.5 I may use at some point-it was for a second system-that never happened.
As the 2 I combined.
At some point will run the 3's with it-a Proton AP1000 controlling it.
That old Technics SA-600 sounds pretty good surprisingly.!
 
There is a set of RS3b on Ebay right now (for the crazy price of $750) they have the original boxes which have the original owners name on them... weirdly, I know the original owner (Al Brunett) and helped him carry these speakers from the BX to his dorm room at Anderson Air Force Base (Guam) in 1986 ! IIRC, they sounded wonderful... If they were a realistic price I would seriously think about them...

I have barely more than that into the original purchase price of both pairs. I did have to refoam some woofers and have upgraded capacitors which has added to that since.
Also on pair of my tweeters has the original owner's name lightly ingraved on the faceplate. Must have been a thing to do then lol.
 
The military encouraged us to put our name & SSN on anything of value to prevent others from taking a "five finger discount" (stealing). Everybody stationed on Guam in the 80's had killer systems because there was really nothing else to spend our money on and the Yen rate was pretty good at the time. There was one storage room in every dorm where everybody kept their stereo boxes until it was time to pack them up for their next assignment. I still have my Onkyo M508 amp, P304 preamp, 9090II tuner and my RS4B's (the 508/304 are currently out of the rotation, but the RS4b & 9090II are in use in the office and sounding marvelous).

Taking the little culver cb 1a-50 black boxes out of the signal path makes for a more relaxed listening experience I find. That way you are going from copper to copper rather than the mystery metal and contacts in the black switchy thingy box which are no longer used in modern crossovers ( maybe 1000 watt pro sound reinforcement).
