RFT is an anacronym for “Radio Funk Techik” which was part of an East german state owned
company following the end of WWII.

This East german company became habitually involed for profits sake in undertaking extracurricular
buisiness adventures with unbusinesslike partners in the relabeling, sale and the internationally
illegal distribution of electron Tubes throughout western Europe, the Americas and elsewhere.

RFT Tubes have been generally accepted as fine to better tubes in some circles.

So! It would be advisible to shop around a bit more and beware of who You buy them from.

You think they would be un apgrade from sovtek EL84M ? Thats what im currently listening to...

I would think for that kind of money you could get a really good used US quad from someone at AK through Barter Town...

Heard a lot of good about the TAD EL84-STR ... maybe someone can chime in on those. Heavy glass and retro construction. Don't know who actually builds them, but they're like Psvane ... they reject a LOT of tubes after testing them in house.

I can say I have a set of their KT88STR's and love em. Also have a triplet of their 12AU7a's - haven't put many miles on those, but they sounded pretty good right out of the box with no microphonics or other such distractions.

PS ... quads are matched at no extra charge.
