SA-9500 - Business Class Amp

spok

Atmospheric Disturbance
so,

on the silver series pioneer site, it says that the SA-9500 is a business class amp disigned for serious audio applications like studios, indoor theaters and concert events....

is the design purpose of the SA-9500-II the same? outside of the redesigned case to make the connections on the rear, is the 9500II also a business class amp?

I ask because the quality of sound over that of my SA-8800 is like night and day.

i used a yamaha p-2200 in my home for years that was a business amp and it sounded great. i think the business part is they make it more durable for moving around and don't worry so much about cosmetics.

sound quality should still be great.

I think the "business class" term is meant to infer durability, the case on a 9500 is much heavier, it has handles on the back, the connectors are on the side and vertical to prevent them from being broken off, the transistors are mounted an external heatsink for better cooling, I have heard it said that it has no problem with difficult speaker loads for hours. The 9500 II was probably meant for home use not touring. This doesn't mean the 9500 II isn't as good, in the era these were built pioneer was improving their produtcs so it may even sound better than the 9500 but it's probably not as tough.

Look inside, dual power supplies split right down the middle. That's the big difference as far as I'm concerned though I've never had or looked inside the others. Also its "pretty".:D

The original SA-9500 is built like a tank. It has smaller access for dust to collect and side inputs for close quarters and accessibility. I think that says all "business" to me.

dew.

I like that term. Business Class. :thmbsp: I like mine, it's probably the nicest piece that I have.

The "handles" on the back are cable guides, the manual says not to use them to lift the amp. I am sure that most folks ignore that, they are too handy. The amp is built like a tank, the front panel is 3/16" solid aluminium plate.

I think I read somewhere that the series 1 has a switching power supply and the series 2 has a nonswitching. Hence the 2 should be quieter. I'm not positive of that. I have 2X the original series 1's that are the pearls of my sound system. Very nice all around sound and duribility. At 55lbs I wouldn't want to be moving them around to much. Enjoy the music CC

My humble opinion is that the SA-9500 was the best silver Pioneer integrated, I like my 9800 but it doesn't come up to the 9500 despite the dual power supply. The 9800 is a good second best but not the best ;)

If SA-9500 is the best, what is SA-9900 :scratch2:

Isn't that a 9500 with more WPC? The 9800 is the blue metered one. I think the 9900 is probably much more rare also.

How about the SX-D7000?

How does my 'new' SX-D7000 fit in? Bought it about 2 months ago and it's the best receiver I've ever owned in the last 40 years. Even has Flouroscans!

I disconnected my RG-2 and the ADC Mark III eq. After doing so I realized I didn't need them after all. (Nowdays I listen to almost everything set to 'Flat'). AKers suggested I disconnect the two units so I did it, and I think they were right. But I miss the lightshow.

SX-D7000 is not business class.
Sound is ok, the looks are cool, but the built quality is definately not business class:no:
