SA-9500 - Business Class Amp

I like the SA-9500 so much, I just bought my third one off eBay today. I actually paid an "extra" $20 thanks to spok's last second bid! Just kidding spok, but if you wanted it, you should have bid more. :smoke: I still got it for less than $125 shipped!

Here it is:

Here is the SA-9500II I got for $150 shipped:

And here is an SA-7500II that I got for less than $50 shipped:

That SA-7500II didn't have any pictures, but when I got it, it was mint. There are still some dandy deals out there guys, and you should be jumping on them!

Nice Retro. I think I paid about $150.00 for mine last year. Now is the time, but with holidays, it would be frowned upon by she who must be obeyed. :whip: I hope it arrives safe.

Business Class = Commercial Grade?

AHa! thanks, Agger. I didn't realize Pioneer made heavy duty stuff. I guess it's kind of equal to commercial, or 'Professional' (whatever that means nowdays) Grade equipment. Kinda like JBL's professional line, maybe?

I like pretty stuff, but looks are not necessary. There's something about professional equipment that appeals to me. The 'strictly business' look and the confidence it'll survive my abusive nature, perhaps.

I'm glad you got it and its going to a good home. my wife would've strung me up when that thing arrived....;)

i hope it comes in nice and clean in great shape.

I don't know why they go so cheap on eBay. I have been thinking of selling mine, but not for a hundred bucks. They should get more respect!!

9500 specs vs. D7000

I don't use a tuner much anymore....nothin' out there for me. Those 9500's look awfully professional. How does the 9500 compare to the D7000? I'm starting to get into Pioneer equipment since checking out this site. What a following!

The SX-7000 was my first receiver from Pioneer, but I have other good Pioneer stuff I've used over the centuries. Still have about 5 tape decks (1 is a RtR) and an RG-2. I'll bet the D7000 is the best receiver I've ever owned!

Rick

The D7000 is not at all a bad receiver. But if you look into the details, you can see the cost cutting in the construction. But it has a high amount of technic built in, the power amp has about 24 transistors, others run with
10 or less.
The best receiver age starts with the SX-1010, followed by the famous SX-1250 and then the 1280/1980.
After the D7000 (which was sold in parallel to the SX-3900) the BPC age starts and nothing interesting followed.

@Tapehead47

You still can enjoy your RG-2 lights. Just connect one of the tape- or adapter outputs to your RG-2 input and don´t take care about RG-2 output. When listening to music, RG-2 display will "work"

I love the outside design of my SX-D7000, but not the inside :sigh:

Not that its bad, but Im surprised some of you like the looks of the D7000. For some reason, I dont like the "two faceplate sections" much at all.(im not tring to start a flame war, this is just my opinion.) I like the common ones that have only "one faceplate section" if you know what Im trying to say. If I had a choice of Pioneer floriscan, I would definately take the sx3900.

Also, Is that a series20 A27 in your avatar, siamac? Those are really cool! I bet they sound amazing. how does it compare with the m-25?:scratch2:

Not crazy about the D7000 looks, either

As I've mentioned before, LOOKS aren't everything. And I am not crazy about sliders, either. I like knobs! Big fat knobs with detents. Machined metal knobs with a solid feel. The kind of knobs that give a man 'satisfaction', if you know what I mean. The D7000 has only one knob!
It's butt-ugly if I dare say. The split-window look really doesn't make the grade in my opinion. And I like a tuning knob, also, with a nice illuminated dial. Guess I'm kind of conservative about looks. Give me an analog tuner!
But when I stumbled across the D7000 at a yardsale I couldn't turn it down. My Yamaha receiver was seriously pissing me off. I needed a replacement unit in a bad way. Wanted to upgrade to McIntosh. (still want to).
The guy who sold me the D7000 had all the papers and receipt! He bought it in 1982 at Clark AFB in the Philippines for over $400. It was hardly ever used except by his aged aunt on Sundays to listen to church music.
Actually, he had two other Yamaha units he used most of the time. One was surround, the other 4-channel (I think) for his home theatre. So it had been sitting there on a shelf for years and years, just waiting for me! He wanted $60 for it but I offered $40 and he took it.
It ain't pretty but it sure is an improvement over anything I've ever had previously! Kind of like a homely woman with a great shape that can cook.

As long as you don't have gnaw your arm off in the morning. :D
I hear you, and if you enjoy it, that's what it's all about. $40.00? You got a great deal. :thmbsp:

I like the ruggedly handsom look of the buisness class SA-9500, plain, straight forward and to the point, with one lamp. I find it hard to sleep with alot of lights and meters litup like christmas. You listen with your ears not your eyes. Enjoy the music CC
