So, so very close. I can nearly smell them from here.

Kinda nice to have such a wonderful pair of speakers that were most certainly headed for the trash. Congratulations!

Nice job on the fill around that woofer! In those pictures, I can't tell which is patched. With the grills on, no one will know, but you'll sleep better.
Thanks! Really enjoying these. Resolution and sound stage is amazing; I'm hearing details I've never heard on my Onkyo speakers... like the 33 rpm chunka-chunka-chunka of my turn table's record size detection mechanism. Probably time to look for a new turntable.
........ Still need a 10" woofer to replace the one with the boogered up rubber surround, but it seems those are in the same category as unicorns and hen's teeth.......
Hi, Apolek!
Very nice work you've done on those.
I may have that 10 incher (if it's the same as the old Wharfedale Denton). One of mine had a VC rub. I'll look around this weekend and let you know.
I ran into the same issue earlier this year when I started running Bozaks. A very revealing system to say the least. I got my Miracord 50H gutted and rebuilt and my Empire 498 put together. Then I had to start looking for amplifiers that actually worked well. All my stuff is "vintage", caps and bits have pretty much run their course. Each time I put a better working piece of equipment in, I could hear the difference. And THEN ????? I could hear the deficiencies in my recordings. So, for the last 5 to 6 months I've had to search out higher quality recordings, or just high quality recordings altogether.

Yeah, let me know how that temptation resisting works out for you. I'm doing better at it. My first real, and new out of the box, stereo was an Onkyo receiver. I'd been dragging home curb side equipment all the way through elementary and middle school. I think it was in my sophomore or even freshman year in high school ('78 or '79), my mother bought me an Onkyo TX-20 receiver and turntable. The speakers were new, white van rigs. Horrific 2-way's with an 8" woofer. I sold the receiver to a friend, then he gave it to someone else years later. I bought a replacement TX-20 a few years ago, works fine. Ain't hooked up to anything at the moment.
