Can anyone help me locate an output transformer for my 1000a? I've searched the web for awhile, even have an e-mail alert! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just wondering why you need one? Is it shorted? I have come across several 1000A's in my lifetime where one out of the two were shorted to ground. Mine even had a shorted transformer. I couldn't find a match so I snagged a couple from an old junk Scott LK72. Works great but I'm not sure how the Scott transformers sounded compared to the original Sansui transformers.

If you still have the old one, you could send it to Heyboer and get it rewound.

Yes, it is shorted to ground. I will contact Heyboar and become a subscriber. Thank you for info. Scott LK72 transformers are compatible or did you have to make modifications? I would really like to get this amp back to being stereo again. Thanks again.

I have a transformer from a Kenwood that should mount in the chassis and is designed for 7591s. I bought the Kenwood with one bad xmfr and replaced both with a pair of 1000A transformers I had laying about. They bolted in place with no drilling, etc/

Many transformers are compatible, but if you want that signature Sansui tube sound, you need to keep an eye open for an exact match. No mods are needed for other types of output transformers, just need to make sure they are push/pull capable and between 6000 - 8000Ω primary.

Transformer Rewinder

This Chap, "larryderouin" above ,suggested you try these guys.

maybe you didn't understand what he was saying.

They are in Grand Haven, Michigan and have done a lot of work for people on this site. Google "Heyboer" on this site

I have no connection to them.

The cause for the shortcircuit could be the tubes/valves failure. I recommend that you install a fuse in series with the B+ to the transformer.
