Sansui 1000x LED dial lamps

I replaced the burned out 6.3v incandescent dial lamps in a new-to-me 1000x with 8v LED fuse lamps. While the new LED bulb are a bit dim, they become brighter when I turn the selector knob in-between positions; between Phono and FM, in between FM and AM, etc...

I've cleaned the selector switch wafers a few times. Is this normal? I don't have any 6.3v bulbs, but I have plenty of 8v LED and incandescent bulb at hand.

Sounds like load is coming off and back on the circuit as you switch selections. I would think it's normal. You wouldn't see it as much with a 6.3v bulb.
 
Thanks. I followed the lamp wiring (white wire) back to the switch. There's a resistor between the 6.3v joint and the ground. I bent the the resistor up a little and the flicker went away. While I was in there, I jumped the 6.3v lamp joint the the always-on joint next to it on the same wafer. Now the lamps are always on. Flicker is gone and lamps are bright now too. :banana:

I want to do this to my 1000x. Is there a post that shows how to rewire to always on? Thanks.
