Sansui 3000 Repair/Factory Mod?'s

Hi Mark,

thank you for your nice fred. So much pictures of a nice piece of Sansuis wonderfull sounding Sixties Receivers and ampifieres and so much work on it.

I am just working on my 3000 in this moment and i just found this rebuilding and modifications report.

If you are interested, i post a few pictures of my restoration.

Hi Rainer,

I am always interested in seeing pictures of these receivers and work being done on them! While I don't mind if you post pictures here, it may be better to post your restoration in a new thread and show your progress there. I linked useful to me threads in the first post and if you do start your own thread you could link to this thread and future rebuilders searching for information won't have to look too hard to get somewhere potentially helpful to them.

I like the 3000 very much, and it sounds very nice. I do not use it as a daily driver and rebuilt it more for personal reasons and for functionality. As some of the real technicians like @kevzep and others have stated this is a fairly problematic amplifier even with the factory mods. A close eye should be kept on the unit because it has some potential to self destruct without notice and without the factory mod will destroy your speakers. The tuner is quite receptive and certainly the best one in my house. Mine is currently sitting pretty, albeit quietly, on one of my gear shelves.

I wish you good luck with your 3000!

Thanks,

Mark K.

Very nice work!
I'm working on a customers 5000 right now.
I've replaced all the diodes, 458's with 1845's, updated the caps & filter caps, cleaned and lubed the controls, cleaned and polished the face & knobs, applied a protective coating to cabinet.

I started a post about an oversight

I forgot to mark and picture where the wires go (blue/black-white/gray) on the solder side

Well thank you for your reply, hope to hear from someone

You might try starting a thread in the Sansui forum with some pictures to show what wires or board you are trying do figure out. There should be members with a 5000 to help you out.
